What does an SFRA test detect on a power transformer?

SFRA detects mechanical and electrical changes in the core and winding assembly — radial or axial winding deformation, loosened clamping, core movement and displaced or shorted turns. It works by comparing the winding's frequency-response fingerprint against its own baseline, a sister unit or a reference measurement.

Do I need to remove the transformer cover to test it?

No. The FRA100 tests transformers rated 6 kV and above without removing the cover or dismantling the active part.

How long does a measurement take?

About 1–2 minutes per winding. With the software's one-button operation, all measurements for a three-phase transformer can be completed quickly after the parameters are set.

Which standards does the FRA100 meet?

IEC 60076-18:2012 and CIGRE Brochure 342 (2008). The manufacturer also references Chinese standard DL/T 911 for FRA on winding deformation — note that both the 2004 and 2016 editions appear in the source material, so confirm the edition applicable to your market.
