Frequently Asked Questions

Which instrument transformers can the VACTP200P test?

Protection CTs, measuring CTs, TP-class CTs and inductive PTs (voltage transformers), covering ratio, polarity, excitation characteristic, error curve, secondary resistance and burden — per IEC 61869-2/-3 and IEEE/ANSI C57.13.

Does it need a separate high-voltage source to test 40 kV knee-point CTs?

No. The analyzer uses a low-frequency excitation principle, so very high equivalent excitation voltages (up to 40 kV knee point) are derived from a low-power 0–180 V / 0–12 A output without a large external high-voltage supply. This makes on-site high-knee-point testing practical and safe.

Can it print reports in the field?

Yes — a built-in thermal printer prints test results directly, and more than 3000 result groups can be stored internally for later transfer by USB.
