The VAE-430 is a conventional analog-injection relay test set — it tests relays through their analog current/voltage inputs. IEC 61850 process-bus (SV/GOOSE) testing requires a dedicated IEC 61850 test set; for conventional numerical relays the VAE-430 is fully suitable.
A three-phase set (VAE-430) injects three currents and is ideal for most overcurrent, distance, frequency and transformer differential applications. Six-phase sets (e.g. VAE-660) add extra channels for generator/motor differential or line-differential schemes needing six currents or simultaneous current+voltage per phase.
Yes — the VAE-430 has a built-in operating system with LCD and local control, so standard tests can be run stand-alone. A serial port is provided for PC-based test automation.
